  • Detail the steps taken to engage all stakeholders – including site staff, contractors & road users.

Last year’s winner

Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald on behalf of the Highways Agency
Near Miss Reporting App

The Near Miss Reporting App enables workers to report near misses anonymously, in real time and from any location.

Judges’ comment:

Dramatic demonstration to highlight safety risks. Great innovation and visual impact.

What the winners had to say…

It think the judges were attracted to the scheme’s simplicity. It was a simple idea, simple but effective. It can be used by anyone and everyone. It’s easy to access and it’s easy to use.

Hopefully we’ll roll it out across all the Balfour Beatty contracts.

To get one Highways Magazine Excellence Award was great, and then to get the Judges’ Special was a huge surprise.

The Highways Magazine Excellence Awards is brilliant. Especially now that there’s a technology award – that fits us perfectly.
