Skanska has a strong history of building, maintaining and operating highways. We have formed a solid working relationship with our customers over many years of delivering projects together.

Cost reduction, reliability and safety are attributes we value highly. We have a huge amount of knowledge and experience that can be used to help our customers deliver their commitments in these areas.

By operating across many markets, often in partnership, we are exposed to varied demands, motorists and expectations. We use this to help our customers drive efficiencies and ultimately reduce costs to meet the government’s savings targets.

Keeping the network moving

Around 4 million customers rely on the UK network every day, so making sure it is working properly is a constant challenge. We understand these challenges and have put measures in place to ensure road users are informed and have safe and reliable journeys.

Our comprehensive highways maintenance service includes: planned and reactive maintenance, highway improvement schemes, winter maintenance, emergency response and horticulture management. Across the UK, we currently maintain over 11,100 miles of carriageways, 5,800 miles of footways and 9,500 structures.

Skanska was named UK’s greenest company, by The Sunday Times in 2011, so we also bring the benefits of our expertise in sustainable construction and maintenance to the highways sector.
